Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 28, 2026
FreeSense respects your privacy. freesense.org is a static website with no user accounts, no advertising, and no cross-site tracking. This page explains the little data that is involved when you visit.
The short version
- ✓ No advertising or tracking cookies.
- ✓ No analytics that profile you across sites.
- ✓ The only browser storage is your own cookie-consent choice.
- ✓ We never sell or share personal data — we don't collect any to begin with.
1. Who we are
This site is operated by The FreeSense Project, an open-source community project. For privacy questions, contact us via the FreeSense-org GitHub organization.
2. Cookies & local storage
We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking. The site stores a single value in your
browser's localStorage, fs-cookie-consent, which simply records
whether you accepted or declined this notice so we don't ask again. It contains no personal
information and is never sent to a server. You can clear it any time via your browser
settings.
3. Server logs (hosting)
The site and download images are served by Cloudflare (Pages and R2). As part of delivering and protecting the site, Cloudflare processes standard request metadata such as your IP address, browser user-agent, and the page or file requested. This is used only for operating the service, security, and abuse prevention, and is handled under Cloudflare's own privacy terms. We do not combine it with anything else or use it to identify you.
4. Third-party requests
- Google Fonts — the site loads the “Space Grotesk” webfont from Google's font CDN, which means your browser sends a request (including your IP) to Google for the font files. No cookies are set by this request.
- Downloads — when you download an installer image or fetch the release list,
those requests go to
downloads.freesense.org(Cloudflare R2). Package updates from an installed FreeSense system go topkg.freesense.org. - GitHub — links to source code and issues take you to github.com, which has its own privacy policy.
5. What we do not do
We do not run advertising networks, social-media trackers, session recording, or fingerprinting. We do not create user profiles. We do not sell, rent, or share personal data.
6. Your rights
If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, the GDPR gives you rights to access, correct, or erase personal data and to object to processing. Because this site does not collect or store personal data beyond the transient server logs described above, there is normally nothing to retrieve — but you are welcome to contact us with any request or question.
7. Changes
We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
This policy covers the website only. It does not govern the FreeSense software you install, which runs entirely on your own hardware.
